The 2019-2020 season will be Matt’s 8th season as the co-director and head coach at Club Koa. Matt's teams at Club Koa have experienced a huge amount of success, including the following...
*In 2019, his 15s team finished 110 spots higher in the SCVA standings than their original ranking, and medaled at Summer Soiree
* In both 2018 and 2019, he led his team to top 10 finishes at the Summer Soiree
* In 2017, he led the 16s team to a top 15 finish (Division 1) in SCVA as well as appearances in the championship bracket at the Las Vegas Classic and the SCVA National Qualifier.
* In 2015, Matt’s 16s team won 19 matches in a row, a feat unmatched by any other SCVA team that year!
Matt is currently the head girls volleyball coach at Crescenta Valley High School. In his first two seasons at CV, he has led them to their two winningest seasons in school history, and was named Pacific League Coach of the Year.
He previously spent five years as the head coach at Calabasas High School, where he led Calabasas to their first CIF playoff win this century! Other highlights at Calabasas include Matt winning Marmonte League Coach of the Year in 2015, and winning 11 tournaments overall in his Calabasas career.
Matt also serves as the head boys volleyball coach at deToledo High School, guiding deToledo to two CIF playoff victories in 2017 and a league title in 2018, both first-time accomplishments in school history!
Matt is married to his beautiful wife Rebecca.
Head Coach 15s, 14s, and 13s
Cory is in his 23rd year of coaching volleyball, currently serving as the girls head volleyball coach at Chaminade High School as well as the co-director at Club Koa. He spent eight seasons as the boys head coach at Calabasas High, leading them to their best seasons in school history, including an appearance in the CIF finals!
His previous experience includes a stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Concordia University, going to two Final Fours and one National Championship game. Cory has also coached at Laguna Beach Volleyball Club, 951 Elite, Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club and Sport Shack Volleyball Club, accumulating numerous SCVA Top Twenty finishes and one J.O. Gold Medal.
Cory played professionally in Puerto Rico’s Superior League and has also earned accolades on professional beach tours. Cory has been privileged to have had the opportunities to learn and work with great coaches such as Michael Soylular, Paula Weishoff, Nina Mathies, Marv Dunphy, Mick Haley, Tim Jensen and many more.
Head Coach 17s and 13s
Coach Jordan is back on our coaching staff again this season, serving as the head coach for the 17-Black and 13-White teams. He has spent the past four years coaching at Calabasas High School, including two years as the JV head coach.
Jordan is a graduate of Calabasas High, where he played every position on the court! He currently attends CSUN, and is majoring in marketing. He is really looking forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for the game!
Head Coach 14s
We are really excited to have Arielle joining Club Koa this season as a full time coach after having spent five years as an instructor at Koa's annual summer camp. Arielle also has coaching experience helping with the girls volleyball team at Calabasas High.
Arielle played volleyball for four years at Calabasas High, serving as the varsity outside hitter for three years. She earned a spot on the all-league team her junior and senior years and served as captain her senior year. Arielle is a recent graduate of San Diego State University where she played on the Women’s Club Volleyball Team.
Head Coach 15s
Victoria is excited to join the Club Koa coaching staff this year! She is currently the girls Junior Varsity coach at Chaminade High School, and attends CSUN. She graduated from Bishop Alemany High School, where she excelled on the court as an opposite and setter.
Her goal at Club Koa is to see our girls grow both on and off the court. She hopes to see our players end the season walking out not only as improved athletes, but equally improved as young ladies who will be respectful of others while always respecting themselves.
Head Coach 13s
Coach Kurt joins Club Koa after having spent three seasons coaching at Arcadia Volleyball Club. Kurt has also coached four years at Crescenta Valley High, serving as the varsity assistant coach for the girls program and the head frosh/soph coach for the boys.
Coach Kurt is currently attending CSUN with plans to become a teacher, while also continuing to pursue his passion of coaching.
We are excited to have Bronson return to Club Koa for the 2019-2020 season! Bronson has served as the Director of Volleyball Operations for UC Davis, as well as the assistant head coach of the Pierce College Men's Volleyball team. Bronson has also had stints as the head girls volleyball coach at Pacifica Christian High School and the boys volleyball coach at Calabasas High. Bronson played college volleyball at Ohio State, and served as the head coach of the Ohio State club volleyball team.
Sydney joined the Koa coaching staff in 2014 after previously playing at Club Koa. She is also an assistant coach at Calabasas High. Sydney spent four years playing at Calabasas, serving as the varsity setter for three seasons. A two time captain, Sydney helped lead Calabasas to their best record in over a decade, and earned all-league honorable mention her senior year. Sydney is a favorite of all the players, and specializes as our setting coach. Sydney is a recent graduate CSUN, where she played on the women's club team.
